With an average underwater visibility that frequently exceeds 30 metres and often reaches an astonishing 40 metres, the Maltese Islands are a true paradise for divers. At DiveBase Malta we believe your comfort and safety start on the surface. Our spacious, purpose-built dive centre features separate rinse tanks for regulators, wetsuits and BCDs, hot freshwater showers, a dedicated gear-drying room and secure storage lockers. The air and nitrox filling station is serviced monthly and uses a three-stage filtration system, so every breath you take is as clean as the view.

All our rent months and comes from leading brands like Scubapro and Aqualung. If you bring your own gear, our technicians can offer a free pre-dive check and, should you need it, affordable on-the-spot repairs. A typical rental set on offer includes:

  • 12-litre aluminium cylinder (DIN and INT available)
  • Balanced, environmentally sealed first and second stage regulators
  • Comfort-harness BCD with integrated weights
  • 5mm and 3mm wetsuit options
  • Wrist-mounted dive computer and compass

For underwater photographers, our dedicated camera table with compressed air blower and silicone grease station means you can prepare your housing without stress. Dive light, torch batteries and even action cameras can be rented by the day – just ask at the counter.

TAKE YOUR SKILLS FURTHER WITH SPECIALTY TRAINING

Once you have your Open Water certification, a whole new world opens up – and DiveBase Malta is the perfect place to explore it. Our PADI and SSI instructors run specialty courses almost every week, tailored for small groups and private tuition. The Enriched Air Nitrox course is one of our most popular: in just one theory session and two dives you learn to extend your no-decompression limits, and you can start using our membrane-system nitrox fills straight away.

If deep walls or wrecks call you, the Deep Diver and Wreck Diver specialties are a natural next step. You will learn advanced buoyancy control, gas planning and navigation techniques on iconic sites like the Imperial Eagle or the Um El Faroud, guided by instructors who have logged hundreds of dives on these wrecks. Night diving around the Maltese coast is also an unforgettable experience – flying gurnards parade on the sand and cuttlefish hover right in front of your torch beam.
