Thanks to a number of connections with all Europe, Malta is easy reachable with both national and low cost air companies. Malta International Airport (LQA) is located in the city of Luqa, which is 10 minutes far from La Valletta by car. To get to Y-40® Dive Base from the airport it would be either 20 minutes far by car or 60 minutes far with the public bus.
Malta can also be easily reached from Sicily, either from Pozzallo (RG) and Catania.

DiveBase Malta, the Official Diving Center of Y-40® The Deep Joy, is locate in front of Bugibba Beach, in Saint Paul’s Bay in the Northern part of the Island of Malta.
With private, shared or public transportation, DiveBase can be easily reached from the International Airport of Malta. the port of La Valletta and other cities of the island.
For groups of at least 4 person, DiveBase will arrange the Transfer from the Airport to DiveBase and Accommodation .

Inside the pool you find multiple platform at different depths, three large transparent underwater tunnels for observers, and a series of caves perfect for training and pure fun. The water is thermal, kept at a pleasant 32-34°C all year long, so no wetsuit stress – just dive comfortable like in tropical seas. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned technical diver, Y-40® give you the chance to practice descents, buoyancy control, and even freediving in a fully controlled environment.
The pool is part of a larger spa and hotel complex, so after your dive you can relax and enjoy wellness treatments. DiveBase Malta organize daily sessions in Y-40® with certified instructors who know every corner of the pool. You can book a single dive, a package with multiple dives, or even a full freediving course. For team building and group activities, there is no place more exciting !! DIVING COURSES FOR EVERY LEVEL +
DiveBase Malta is a full service PADI, SSI, and CMAS training center. From beginner to professional, we have a course designed exactly for you. Starting with the classic Discover Scuba Diving, where you take your first underwater breaths in a safe and shallow area, and moving up to Open Water Diver, Advanced, Rescue, all the way to Divemaster and Instructor. The teaching is practical, fun, and made in small groups to guarantee maximum safety and attention. All theory portions can be done online before arrival, so you spend your holiday diving, not in a classroom !
For those who want to try something different, we offer special courses in sidemount configuration, dry suit diving (yes, even in Malta sometimes the winter asks for it !), and enriched air nitrox. Freediving courses are also available in partnership with Y-40® pool and in the open sea, to learn breathing techniques, static and dynamic apnea. Every course includes full equipment rental, transport to dive sites, and a logbook for your memories. Check with our staff the “Combo Course Package” which combines pool sessions at Y-40® with open water dives in Malta’s famous wrecks and reefs.
MALTA’S BEST DIVE SITES +
The Maltese Islands are a real paradise for divers. With over 100 dive sites around Malta, Gozo, and Comino, you will find incredible variety: dramatic drop-offs, spectacular caverns, and some of the best preserved wrecks in the Mediterranean. DiveBase Malta take you directly to the top sites, most of them reachable with short van rides from our center. Among the highlights are the famous Blue Hole in Gozo with its natural arch and deep wall, the big statue of Jesus at the Cirkewwa Arch site, and the wreck of the Um El Faroud, a huge tanker sunk as an artificial reef and now colonised by hundreds of fish and corals.
For lovers of caverns, the eerie Santa Maria caves offer a labyrinth of swim-throughs with brilliant light effects. Night dives at Bugibba reef, just in front of our base, reveal octopuses, moray eels, and sleeping parrotfish. We organize daily boat trips to Comino’s crystal clear waters and the magical P31 patrol boat wreck, perfect for beginners and photographers. The sea conditions are excellent almost all year, visibility often exceeds 30 meters, and water temperature ranges from 15°C in winter to 26°C in summer. DiveBase’s local guides know every secret spot – they will show you things you never expected !!
